The refrigeration industry has been working on solutions to their global warming impact. The alternatives that executives have heard whispers about are know as hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) — next-generation refrigerants that, unlike their predecessors, have minimal impact on the environment. While other substitutes also have low-GWP, these options can be hazardous and often require wholesale system changes and other costly expenditures.
